"9th Air Force Tribute"
- Featuring model Kirsten - © Britt Dietz -
Airbrushed style pinup photo featuring Kirsten in this tribute to the 9th Air Force during WW2! The 9th Air Force was first activated in September of 1941. Consisting of several Fighter groups, several Bomber groups, and the majority of the Troop Transport groups; the 9th Air Force was heavily active in the middle eastern conflicts of World War 2 along with the invasions of Sicily and Italy. The 9th AF was transferred to Europe in October 1943 where they would take part in the invasion of Normandy (many of the C-47s from the 9th carried paratroopers into France) and would stay in Europe supporting the war with the fighter, bomber, and transports groups until the end of the European Theater (V-E day) in May of 1945. The 9th focused on tactical missions for the US Army Air Force throughout that time. The 9th Air Force continued through Korea and Vietnam and even into Operation Desert Storm in the 1990s and was renamed the United States Air Force Central Command. The 9th Air Force was reactivated in August 2009 as its own established part of the US Air Force Air Combat Command and continues to be a large part of the USAF today.
The Dietz Dolls Military Pinup series celebrates the rich history of the United States Military during World War 2 with the Army, Navy, Army Air Force, Marines, and Coast Guard. Using authentic uniforms and equipment, this series is perfect for the military fan to hang framed on their wall!
