Warbird Photos Aviation Poster Series
More P-47 Thunderbolts for Victory!
- © Britt Dietz -

First built in 1941, this 10,000 pound fighter would go on to be one of the biggest (not to mention heaviest) fighter aircraft during WW2. Used by the Army Air Force and primarily serving in the European Theater, the Thunderbolt could actually carry nearly half of the same pay-load as a B-17 bomber! Leading Ace of the 8th Air Force, Francis 'Gabby' Gabreski flew the P-47 having destroyed 28 aircraft in air combat. Nearly 4,000 air to air kills during the war were from Thunderbolts and there were more sortie missions in the Thunderbolt than all the P-51s, P-38s, and P-40s combined! Over 15,600 were built with the last P-47 being retired from the Air National Guard in 1953.

Introducing a new line of Aviation Posters, done up like World War 2 propaganda posters calling for the production of more aircraft for the war effort! Following the same theme throughout all the posters, all the major American US Military aircraft in the Army Air Force, Navy, and Marines will be covered. From calls for more production to promoting the latest aircraft and recruitment for pilots; these style of posters became a hallmark of the 1940s. This original retro poster designs pay tribute to these posters with authentic fonts, colors, and designs!
